When Paint Talks

…and heaven came on earth when no one was expecting.

it just came down upon us like the rain.  and suddenly we all looked up in unison and saw the Glory of God as He shone His face upon us.

many could not take in His Beauty for their eyes had long been closed.  but there were a few among us that could see Him.

and those and the entirety of His Creation,

were blessed beyond all words…

Tempest Mine

There comes a time when all is to be questioned.  A time when our plans and self composed strategies are cast off like hot coals to soft flesh.  There comes a time when we must abandon ourselves to Him by becoming truly inter-dependent.

The time is here.  It has arrived.  We are no longer lingering in wait but at the moment of departure.  Climb aboard now or be left behind.

My current struggles with abandonment to Christ are just that.  My own.  They really are not of any import or interest other than to me and my solitary walk.   I look around, as you do, and I see the very same  pattern of confusion and unconscious rebellion in my Christian brothers and sisters.  In unison we seem to stumbling about in a haphazard trance.   All the while asking of ourselves and Our God, “what am I to do?”.

What am I to do?

Stuck again in the ‘ I ‘.   The little ‘ i ‘ and all that she affords me.  Which is very, very  little by the way.

For this present whirlwind of mind and heart is pervasive and having it’s way with the Remnant.  It is called the Confusion a midst the Storm and it is another ruse of the devil.  If the Flock remains befuddled and scattered, we are hardly in right form to take on the Great Battle.  Let alone be harbingers of the New Era.

Remarkably, like all human maladies there is a spiritual solution.  This particular fever responds to the clarity of the Holy Spirit and at times a swift kick to the posterior.  For me it often comes through another struggling  comrade who unwittingly slaps me into right thinking.   With one or several words, I suddenly am restored to my saddle.  Galloping once again, with full vigor, towards my Lord and my God.

For this reason, and many others, we must stay glued to one another.  The oppressor has unleashed so much upon us that it is very difficult to make one’s way through the menacing fog.  We must grab the coat tails of the man in front of us while offering the same to the soldier behind.  Entwined together in this perilous storm, we have a chance of finding our way to He Who Awaits Us.

After all, He gave us one another for this hurricane of all hurricanes.

We cannot succumb to going it alone.  It is a death wish to forge off in solitude as we once did.  I urge you to purge yourself of your old ideals of rugged independence and cling to the safety of the holy fraternity.  This is not a mild suggestion but an exhortation.

Do what is necessary now.  Identify your true Christian confidants and have daily contact as if your life depended on it.  Be eager to ask the tough questions and bow your head in silence when a fellow Christian offers sage advice.   Pray fervently with one another and allow sacred community to be whatever the Lords affords you this one day.

The time of sorrows is upon us and we must be One Under God.  Stand with me  little sparrow soul and know that my own smallness is made that much greater by your magnificent presence.

As the Comrade behind you, I remain in awe of your steadfastness,

Cindy

The Great Assembling

A movement is underground.  Gentle and steady, a persistent rumbling that oft goes undetected even when barefoot.  Forces are moving us forward dear comrades.  We are being maneuvered by the Heavens into a Divine Constellation.

There are  many among us who have dreamed of such a time and then others still with only vague inklings.  Nonetheless, a handful of souls are being led to a new destination of living.  A mode of life that will manifest the Glory of God.  Whether in small communities or solitary dwellings, a Holy Fraternity will soon appear in ways extraordinary.

Are such stirrings in your heart?

When left to my own device, I dream of hair below my waist and growing organic okra.  Maybe it is for this reason that I become annoyingly exuberant when envisioning communal life.

The pull of harmonious coexistence with God, nature, and man has owned me for some time.  So much in fact that I once laid claim to a 20 acre sanctuary in rural America.  It was a torrid love affair and to this day I tear up in memory.  With a dream of one day offering it up as a refuge for world-weary Christians, it sadly was not meant to be.  The yearning endures, however; and is assuaged by the multitude of prophecies and signs pointing to the New Era community.

This emergence does not sit well with everyone.  Hushed conversations in back hallways reveal a growing fear of Christian persecution.  Ignited with dread, many are scurrying off to stockpile blankets and canned beans to ensure survival while in hiding.

                                                                                      Please take heart.

The Lord will not fail us!

Truly our cultural exile is fully underway but our Comfort draws near.  Joyfully, some of us will be led to cooperative life amid the Faithful.  This is a time for great celebration as sharing bread and blanket with our brethren will become the norm.  These settlements will bring light to Jesus’ teachings on radical sharing and selfless love.

Ownership will be replaced by true kinship.

Let’s not assume who will be in such places of mercy and grace.  He Who Knows All will extend His Hand and place specific souls together at the proper hour.  As His Children, we need only be attentive and obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit within our hearts.

Yet one thing is certain, such settlements will thrive despite the surrounding chaos and decay.  Prayer, fasting, and service to God and others will weave together in a unified rhythm.  The most mundane of tasks will be transformed into a daily, collective offering to Christ.

This is what awaits us sweet Remnant.  We are not to scatter, fleeing for higher ground.  Put your ear to the earth and listen intently for those whisperings that are meant for you and you alone.  Follow those promptings prayerfully and know that not one of us is to be lost or forgotten.

May we  find ourselves living as one in Him very soon.

Until that time, I remain your Comrade in Christ.

Divine Immersion

Leaping Backwards and Other Feats of Valor

Now is the time for radical change.   Folks are seemingly making rash life decisions and  family and friends may be none too happy.  Seized with a baffling inner conviction, surrounding objections go unheeded.  Without looking back, the hero jumps.  In mid-flight, he realizes he has no clue where his feet will land.

How spectacular a sight.   For acts of true courage are irrational and remind us that martyrdom comes in many colors.

Look around.  Christians are committing massive acts of the heart every single day.  Some are forfeiting lucrative jobs to pursue personal ministries that offer no steady income.  Still others, guided by Godly conviction, are taking leave of house and hearth to follow the Spirit.  Young Christians are consistently defying peer pressure by embracing chastity and piety.   A steady stream of holy acts is encircling us as the Faithful choose God.  Especially when it does not make sense.

We all know that dying for Jesus is a great honor.  Yet holy martyrdom is multidimensional, so do not assume the worst. One day you may be asked to shed blood for Him.  On the other hand, you may be prompted to suddenly go where it hurts most.  Such as:

Your wallet.

Your sense of security.

Your desire for acceptance and prestige.

These invitations of the Holy Spirit never cease to amaze me.   His descent is not just some ancient movement witnessed at the first Pentecost.  Oh how He is working right now!  The constant companion of Our Lord and harbinger of the Great News is manifesting among us at record speed.   Again and again, we the downtrodden are being lifted up by His steady hand only to find ourselves opting for a new skin.

In this unprecedented house cleaning, many of us are being reappointed in preparation for what lies ahead.  It appears that in order to be of maximum use to Our Creator, we must move beyond our comfort zone.  If this is your reality, consider yourself chosen.

Our 12 Star General knows what He is up to.   Not one of us will be left out of the change-game as His troops are readied for battle.  The question is not whether you will have to stretch beyond yourself.  That is a given and no noble metamorphosis comes without seismic struggle.  Instead take note of your personal unveiling before the eyes of the Lord.

Therein lies true beauty.

For now, we march together with each soul humming a singular note.  Unknowingly, our individual offerings of bravery converge as a great orchestration before the throne of  God.  It  is our earthly gift to Jesus at this time.

Carry on Good Comrade.  You are not alone.

Your Sister in Christ,

Cindy

The Uncommon Blizzard

Yesterday the snow came.  Unrelenting and magical, I stood at the window marveling at the contradictions of this white onslaught.  Refusing to abandon an appointment with my spiritual advisor, I tackled the storm singlehandedly. Praying out loud and in real time, my little car swished to and fro on the icy roads. There I was…a collision of determination and stupidity. My three travel companions; fear, vulnerability, and awe, squirmed in the back seat tugging at my pony tail.  Not surprisingly, they all took a turn at me.

This morning, our little neighborhood awoke to a blanket of quiet.  A silencing of the world’s needless scurrying.  The blizzard has left it’s mark upon us much like a visitation from the Holy Spirit.

True confessions.

I have a secret crush on the Holy Spirit.  He is bold and mysterious and comes only when He is good and ready.  Like a schoolgirl, I think of Him all the time and wonder if He notices me.  Taking many forms, I struggle to define His movements and whereabouts but He is His Own Person.  When He descends, He may flutter in on ivory wings or bellow from above as rampant fire.  Art begs to bring Him into focus but He is bigger than that.  Far beyond the human hand.

As the Faithful we know to pray often and with full heart.  We cry out to Jesus and His Holy Kingdom and we must.  Therein, lies our strength to remain active soldiers for the Good.  A year ago, my prayer life took on another dimension when I began to recite the Golden Sequence.  Sometimes in total and other times…just parts.  No matter. The effect has been palpable.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created…and you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let that seep into your bones my friend.  Say it out loud and feel the power of God fill your being.  You might think this too rote or archaic a prayer but I promise that it will fortify your Remnant Heart.

As a Christian, you have been up close and personal with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  You know He never visits empty-handed.  Some of us have experienced His Descent while worshiping in community and others of us have had very private meetings.  It’s All Good.

Never falter little soldier with the big heart.  I love you so much…and the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit loves you beyond comprehension.  Call out to the Holy Spirit often and with great anticipation.

He will come to you.

Don’t be shy Remnant Soldier.  Tell us about your experience with the Holy Spirit.  ♥

Overeating Sugar Plums: Part 2

'A Boy and His Cookies' photo (c) 2007, CJ Sorg - license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/

It is the Christmas countdown.  This can be such an amazing time of year.  Yes?  Personally, I love the beauty that Christmas can bring out of the human heart.  The dude at my favorite coffee shop winks at me, my typically stressed out hair dresser is giddy with joy, and even the dog seems to have learned a new dance step.  The world just seems…nicer.

So with that said, Jesus’ birthday is not the time for a sprinkle of self-hatred and a dab of distress.   Yet if you struggle with overeating, Christmas celebrations are likely a mixed bag.  Mustering optimism, you commit to gain control after New Year’s.  You try to pace yourself at the desert table.  Is it working?

Fear not for you can let go of trying to find the perfect diet to start on January 1st.  You can also ditch your food lists and weight charts.  Time to focus on what works.  The longterm solution lies in your relationship to Jesus and allowing Him to help you.  He can control your eating….if you let Him.

First off, never forget that the devil is lurking behind your struggle with food.  For overeaters, Genesis is disturbingly familiar.  It started with an apple and went downhill from there.   Hence, why you must be decked out, 24-7, in your spiritual armor; especially when you go toe-to-toe with a pecan pie.  Ultimately, there are three critical aspects of suiting up for this type of battle; prayer, fasting, and repentance.

Prayer is exceedingly personal.  Some folks opt for specific devotionals and others ad lib.  No biggie.  Just do what comes naturally for you and cry out to the Lord.  If your heart is in it, He will hear.  Be a shrewd Soldier and call upon our Triune God; the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Take time early in the morning to beseech Jesus to release you from bondage to food.  Actively pray before each meal.  This means more than a perfunctory mealtime prayer and then diving headfirst into the sweet potatoes.  Honestly open yourself up to the Holy Spirit while you eat and unholy spirits will fall to the wayside.  You can do this in the silence of your heart without anyone knowing. Then send up a little prayer of thanks when you finish eating.  Jesus deserves our praise!

Fasting is an indispensable tool for the Christian Warrior as well as remarkably healing for overeaters.  If you know you will be feasting on ham and cranberry sauce on Christmas Day, consider fasting for part of Christmas Eve or maybe even for a couple of hours on Christmas morning.   The goal of such fasts is twofold: alignment with God’s Divine Will and preparation for the upcoming temptation of holiday fare.  In my opinion, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to fasting.  A person who has celiac or Type II diabetes cannot fast solely on bread and water.  Bad idea.   Your Savior knows how you should fast; approach Him prayerfully and you may be surprised by His Guidance.  You could be prompted to conduct juice fasts, mono-food fasts, or to fast from a specific activity.  It is common for our fasts to change in type and duration over time.  Jesus knows what is best for you.  Trust Him.

Society overall does not view overeating as a spiritual misstep.  In fact, overeating is condoned and encouraged throughout Christmas and beyond.  Diets, not repentance, are touted as the panacea for overeating.  Not true.  Repentance is the healing balm when we slip back into old patterns.  How you repent is based on the shade of Christianity you embrace.  Just know that for us humans, gluttony leads to demoralization, self-hatred, and separation from Jesus.  It is no good.  Furthermore, the enemy makes great strides when we refuse to repent to Our Lord.  Saying your sorry will put your eating back into the Hands of God.  Just do it and move on.

You are a Christian Soldier.  The Army of God needs you.   I am here for you.

Your Comrade in Christ,

Cindy

Yuletide Depression

'Christmas tree #2' photo (c) 2008, bjaglin - license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/

So it’s Christmas. That means lots of sparkling, outdoor lights, fabulous cookies, and jubilant parties with family and friends.  Additionally, since you are a serious Christian this also means that you are feeling deeply pious and brimming over with good cheer.

Not so?   Read on.

As a psychologist, I have worked with hundreds of folks who have depression during the Christmas season. The party-line, psychological explanation is that we feel crappy when we realize that our life is nowhere near the artificial, media-induced ideal of Christmas perfection. Add to that a heaping spoonful of family dysfunction and a pinch of financial insecurity and you have yourself a nice dish of yuletide blues.

So is this the last word or is there more?  There is definitely more.

The world is whacked at the moment. We are created to love, adore, and worship God the Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.  The whole planet should be rocking with joy on Jesus’ birthday; singing His praises and walking in the Light of the Holy Spirit.  Instead, mankind’s primary response consists of a distorted, perfunctory nod to Our Savior on His birthday.

If He even gets a nod.

As a Soldier for the Most High, this does not sit well with you. You eat your Christmas cookies and hum your favorite hymns but you remain flat like fizz-free ginger ale.  Even Church festivities may not feel the same.  You sense that the enemy is intent on taking the pep out of your Christmas step.  Do not be dismayed.  There is an explanation and a solution.

The knob on the world has taken a decidedly anti-Christian turn.  For Christian Americans, our land is increasingly hostile to our religious beliefs.  Our own backyard is now different; so Christmas feels different.  That is the simple answer.  More than ever, your renewal lies in Him and drawing close to His Presence.  You are called at this time to retreat into the Heart of Jesus.  His Heart is Sacred Ground and will not disappoint.  For in the silence of Our Lord’s Beating Heart is the Holy Spirit; who is able to envelop and fortify your very core.   Once shored up, you can contend with whatever may come your way this month.  Carry on with your usual Christmas routine but take time daily to be alone with Your Savior.  Make this a priority and do not compromise.

Lately, in the quiet of my alone time with Jesus, I am gently reminded of the following:

Our Lord’s Birthday foretells of His Second Coming.

I don’t pretend to understand all this.  All I know is that Jesus is coming again and He will make right all that is wrong.  There will be a day when both Earth and Heaven will be as one.  Imagine how Christmas will be celebrated in the New Paradise!  Now that is a stunning image to ponder.

May your Christmas Season be blessed as you find your true celebration in the Quiet Sanctuary of the Heart of Jesus.

As always I remain your Comrade in Christ,

Cindy
